Black Rock City 3:00 Post Office - Burning Man Theme Camp

Set in a giant rural postbox, the Black Rock City 3:00 Post Office (BRC3PO) provides postal services on the playa every day. We offer authentic, one-on-one, creative interactions that range from the side-splittingly silly to the supremely sublime. We also provide an array of curated Burning Man postcards and postage to send those postcards anywhere in the world. Imagine the intersection of immersive improvisational theater, spontaneous talent show, soulful conversation, and stifling yet corrupt bureaucracy. You never know what will happen next at BRC3PO -- YOU could be what will happen next at BRC3PO, if you pay us a visit!

BRC3PO Camp History

After several years of volunteering at various post office camps throughout the 2000s, a group of friends banded together in 2012 to create a new Post Office theme camp on the playa. BRC3PO was born, inspired by the potential of scoring some elusive Burning Man tickets during the first year of ticket shortages. Despite securing a prime spot at the 3:00 plaza, our founders missed out on the tickets. Yet, our fearless postal pioneers wouldn't be deterred.

The founding crew - Laughing John (now KJ), Mr. Wonderful, and KO, along with a few others - connected with Michael, an incredible Hollywood set designer in SoCal. Michael designed the iconic structure we still use today, which KO built almost single-handedly on his property in Sebastopol. This beloved postal hub has since inspired endless shenanigans, constant laughter, remarkable connections, and a continuous stream of exceptional people creating magic together.

Over the years, we've honed our craft into the immersive, improvisational theater experience it is today! At our best, the BRC3PO Post Office is a surreal, unpredictable wonderland, with interactions that deeply connect and stretch our postal patrons in unexpected ways. We've established a unique identity, fostering amazing interactions with the citizens of Black Rock City while conducting our not-so-real postal services.

And while we're not a "real" post office, we did send around 8,000 pieces of mail to the outside world in 2023, along with delivering hundreds (or maybe thousands—we lost count) of postcards, letters, and packages within Black Rock City itself!
